First Place: “The Heart Will Sing” by Ian Good

Second Place: “Prayer” by Lucas Parhiala

Third Place: “I Am Glad” by Allison Kraus

Ian Good’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by the Gordon College Choir, Lyricora, the Westminster Bell Choir, Cape Symphony Orchestra, and various chamber groups and soloists. He has been commissioned by churches and school choirs, including LaGuardia High School in New York City, and his art song “Nocturne in a Deserted Brickyard” was a finalist in the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award competition.  Ian’s compositions are published by Beckenhorst Press and GIA Publications. He holds an M.M. in Composition from Westminster Choir College where he met his wife Sarah. He is also a Grammy-nominated audio producer.

Lucas Parhiala’s musical journey began two years ago in his junior year of high school. He took a piano class and a class on music theory and discovered a deeply ingrained curiosity and passion for understanding music. From there, his teacher began to have him practice composing and it felt as though he spoke for the first time in his life, and he fell in love with the sound of that voice. Since coming to college he has focused on honing that voice and using it to express and spread love to loved ones, God, and to encourage others to spread love amongst each other.
